If you are in danger right now
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number straight away. Do not wait for a reply from us.
Send us a support request
Tell us what happened. We read every request. Please do not include contact details. You can send one request every 30 seconds.
Reach a person you trust
Call or message someone you trust, even just to say you are having a hard night. You do not need to explain everything.
While you wait for help
- Move to a room where you feel safer, and be near other people if you can.
- Put distance between yourself and anything you could use to hurt yourself.
- Drink some water, and try slow breathing: in for four, out for six.
- Stay with the feeling for a few minutes. It often shifts.
About chatting on youstillawake
Anonymous chat can help you feel less alone for a while, but it is not a counselling service, and the people you meet are strangers. Our safety tips explain how to look after yourself, and how to report anything that worries you.
