How the live map works
- Just here lights are people who are online but not looking to chat. They are shown as soft white dots.
- Open to talk lights are people who would like company. They are warm amber and gently pulse.
- The counter at the top shows how many people are awake with you right now, and how many are open to talk.
Locations are rough. We round each position to about a tenth of a degree and move it by a small random amount, so a light shows a region, not a home.
Saying hi
Tap an amber light to see where it is and say hi. You can also press Talk to anyone awake to be matched with a stranger who is open to talk. They will see a gentle request, and nothing happens unless you both agree.
Who is awake, and when
The map is busiest late at night in most time zones, and early in the morning for people starting shift work. It is quiet during the middle of the day in many regions. Because it is live, the picture changes minute to minute.

Yes. There is no account and no payment.

Anyone aged 18 or over can use it at any hour. Many people simply find it helpful when they cannot sleep.
Can I see who people are?
No. Lights are anonymous, and chats do not ask for names, photos or contact details.
